Archduke Alexander of Karnia is a member of House of Götzö-Thomaz-Rocha as the first son of Archduke Pedro of Karnia and his first wife, Archduchess Celia of Karnia. His father renounced his rights of sucession after his first marriage, but his title and style, as much as of his offspring, was confirmed by his nephew, Oscar I.

His mother died when he was a teenager, but his father remarried a distant cousin, Archduchess Anna of Karnia some years after, and he have a brother, Archduke Danilo.
