Casey Pemberton is a leading Delveran/Karno-Ruthenian politician and military officer. He was instrumental in the expansion of the Commonwealth of Lavrasia and the Army of the Commonwealth, and was a prominent advocate of independence from the NottaLottan Empire and the subsequent formation of the Grand Republic of Delvera. He served as Minister of State, Minister of the Interior, President, and Consul of the Grand Republic. He has also held numerous provincial offices and military posts.
Career[edit | edit source]
Politics[edit | edit source]
Pemberton was recruited in late 2012 following a conversation with Lord Governor Jordan Brizendine of Commonwealth of Lavrasia, in which he was introduced to the concept of micronationalism. Initially apprehensive, he was soon convinced that this was a great opportunity and founded the District of Altaria as an exclave of the Commonwealth. He drew several of his friends to his banner, doubling the size of the nation.
After the 2013 Winter Drill Exercises, he became vocal in support of secession from the NottaLottan Empire. Upon creation of the Grand Republic of Delvera in May, he was appointed to the offices of Governor of Altaria and President of the Grand Republic. When Consul Brizendine attended a Chinese university for a year from 2014-2015, Pemberton took over his official duties, though he regularly consulted the incumbent. Pemberton was confirmed as President following the 2015 election. He briefly served as Minister of State in the Brizendine Cabinet in early 2016.
He was elected Consul in the 2016 election, defeating incumbent Jordan Brizendine. His first term as consul saw Delvera's rise to intermicronational prominence through various reforms and military operations, though it was not without controversies. Pemberton lost the 2017 election to Dylan Callahan, again taking office as President until his resignation on 20 March 2018. On 10 November 2018, the Chamber of Deputies selected Pemberton to replace Michael Holloway as consul following the latter's mid-term resignation. He did not run for re-election in the 2019 contest. Pemberton was appointed to the post of Minister of the Interior in the Fourth Callahan Cabinet in 2021, serving until the suspension of the confederal government in December.
Pemberton served in the Delveran delegation to the Congress of Colo in 2017.
Provincially, Pemberton served as the Deputy from Lavrasia from 16 August 2015 until he took office as Delveran President in 2017. He later served two non-consecutive terms as Governor, from 2017-2018 and 2019-2020, then as Governor of Ozarkana in 2020. Finally, he served as Seneschal of Ozarkana from 2020-2021 and Deputy from Ozarkana in 2021.
Military[edit | edit source]
Pemberton’s military career is distinguished. Upon his entry into the Army of the Commonwealth in January 2013, he was granted a commission as a Lieutenant and charged with recruitment in his home city, for which he was commended. He was also given command of the Delveran Infantry Regiment. After the expansion of the ACL into the Armies of the Moniteau later that month, he was promoted to Captain and named Third Officer of Commonwealth forces. Pemberton is responsible for introducing ceremonial drills into the military, a component of discipline and national pride. In the Delveran Armed Services, he served as Chief of Staff of the Grand Republican Army, Drill Team Commander, and Republican Signal Officer. He took part in Operations Viscount, Genesis, and Exodus.
Pemberton was commissioned as a Lieutenant in the Karno-Ruthenian Sixth Army in November 2022. He currently serves in the 4044th Quartermaster Regiment.
Media[edit | edit source]
Casey Pemberton founded the Knowledge Warrior blog, an "alternative news source", in 2015.
Organizations[edit | edit source]
Pemberton developed the idea of the Order of Knights Paragon in early 2015. Later that year, on 31 August, he was elected the Order's first Grand Master.
Controversies[edit | edit source]
He is largely responsible for the creation of the controversial Province of “Pandoria”, whose governor was his friend.
During his first consulship, Delvera experienced the Pemberton Inactivity Crisis (2016) and the Hyperactivity Crisis (2017). He was arrested and impeached for the latter, but the charges were later dropped.
Personal Life[edit | edit source]
Pemberton was an active member of the Boy Scouts of America, in which he is an Eagle Scout and a Vigil member of the Order of the Arrow. He is a practicing Christian and attends a Southern Baptist church. He has considered the ministry as a career path. He is a largely conservative political thinker, identifying with many Republican and Libertarian policies and opinions.
Pemberton married Elizabeth Pemberton in 2020, and the couple live in Clarksbourg, the capital of Delvera. Pemberton considers himself an adopted son of Amy Brizendine and brother of Jordan Brizendine.
Heritage[edit | edit source]
Casey Pemberton claims several prominent relations, including famed US frontiersman Daniel Boone, the entrepreneurial Mellon family, Coca-Cola inventor Dr. John Pemberton, and former British Prime Minister Harold Macmillan. It has been suggested that his leadership abilities stem from this heritage.
