Clarksbourg is the capital city of the State of Delvera. It was recognized as the Delveran capital by the Capital City Bill on 9 February 2019. Clarksbourg is currently the home of two Delveran citizens, Consul-Emeritus Casey Pemberton and President-Emeritus Elizabeth Pemberton, and several other Delverans live in the immediate vicinity. It is the focus of the Clarksbourg 2050 project, which aims to establish permanent Delveran governmental and cultural properties in the city by 2050.

Etymology[edit | edit source]

Clarksbourg is named for Hiram Clark, the city's first postmaster.

Features[edit | edit source]

Clarksbourg is about 0.58 sq mi (1.5 sq km) in area and includes a consolidated school, a Baptist church, and a few small in-home businesses. The Delveran region is about 0.001 sq mi (0.004 sq km) in area and comprises two structures, one of which is inhabited.

History[edit | edit source]

Clarksbourg is located within a few miles of Lavrada, a historic Delveran city. Jordan Brizendine and Adam Brizendine, among several other citizens, attended school in the city historically. For this very reason, Clarksbourg is the focus of multiple projects of Delveran citizens, including Clarksbourg 2050. This initiative would see an embassy, park, capitol building, military facility, and residential area established in the city in the coming years. Clarksbourg was one of the sites of festivities of the Delveran Heritage Festival in 2020.

After the State of Delvera merge to Karnia-Ruthenia in 2020, the city became one of the most important cities of the Empire. On 09 November 2023, the city and the Bran District in the Commonwealth of Dracul signed a Memorandum of Understanding, officially declaring the cities as Sister Cities. The idea came about in a diplomatic meeting in late October 2023. The idea of sister cities is not uncommon, as many macronations around the world establish them each year. With the sister city agreement in effect, both cities can expect mutual support in the development of new social, economic and academic programs. Furthermore, the agreement aims to generate an improvement of the operation of the cities’ various government agencies by serving as a conduit of information[1].
