The House of Lamburg is a royal house of dukes of Karnia-Ruthenia. The family arose in the area of Pelotas and since 05 January 2016, the House of Lamburg reign over the Principality of Nossia through a cadet branch of Lamburg-Nossia, represented by Carlo, Prince of Nossia and reigning over Lifreia under Ivan, Kanfre of Lifreia.

History[edit | edit source]

Background[edit | edit source]

The family originated in Pelotas, Brazil, but settled in Florianópolis. The first noble members of the family were the Princes of Astra, that would be the parents of the sovereigns of Nossia and Lifreia. They had two children: Prince Lopes of Astra-Lifre, who would later become Ivan, Kanfre of Lifreia and Duke of Lamburg and Carlo, Prince of Nossia and Hereditary Prince of Lamburg. Recent genealogical research by the Autumn Palace Secretariat suggests that the Lamburgs come from a long line of decadent rio-grandense burghers.

Ascension[edit | edit source]

Lifreia, the first micronation ruled by the Lamburg family was founded in May 2015, by Ivan, Kanfre of Lifreia. The micronation was first mentioned in a satyrical screenplay about espionage during the Cold War and effectively becoming a micronation on 07 July 2015. In a short time, the conflict known as Nossian-Lifreian Civil War began, with the "special region" of Nossia demanding and, after a coup, effecting its independence.

The conflict lasted from July to December of that year and on 05 January 2016, Ivan's younger brother, Carlo, Prince of Nossia, took the Nossian Throne. Thus, the cadet branch of the House of Lamburg also became reigning in the Principality of Nossia.

Despite the sometimes tense relationship between the brothers and their micronations, their relationship with Karnia-Ruthenia served to draw more parallels between both parts. They became citizens of the Empire in mid-November 2017 and were made members of national nobility on 20 December 2017.

Line of Succession to the Duchy of Lamburg and the thrones of Lifréia and Nossia[edit | edit source]

In matters of succession, the House of Lamburg follows the Salic law, as outlined in the first pages of the House Charter[1].

Cadet branches[edit | edit source]

Lamburg-Massaca[edit | edit source]

The cadet branch of the House of Lamburg was formed after Prince Carlo took the throne of Nossia, accepting the title of Prince of The Nossians after the Lifréian province of Astra broke away from the empire.

The charter of the house establishes that "[...] If the current head of the cadet branch fails to produce heirs, all of its territories, titles, honors AND possessions will be reverted to the main branch."'[2] The charter also states that "[...] Marriage between the two main branches of the house is not prohibited, but it is not advisable".[3]
