The Imperial and Royal Aviation Troops of Karnia-Ruthenia, also known since January 2022 as the Truppen, is the air force of Karnia-Ruthenia and from November 2023 onwards, the Truppen became a specialty branch within the Heer and Marine, conducting air operations in support of Army and Navy units and under the command of Army and Navy officers. No longer an independent branch of the Armed Forces, its origins date back to the Royal Air Force of Ruthenia, founded in 2014.

On 07 January 2022, the Armed Forces were reformed, and much of the Air Forces was modernized following the Occidian and Delveran military systems, that revoked many ranks within the air force and even changed its name and in November 2023, all field army and fleet in Imperial service incorporated an air squadron as a standard component of those elements.

Backround[edit | edit source]

First Creation[edit | edit source]

The Imperial and Royal Aviation Troops was founded on 26 November 2014 as the Royal Air Force of Ruthenia, few days after the foundation of the Kingdom of Ruthenia. The air force was originally, and still have very much of its primary function, intended to be a defensive force to protect the micronation. However, it has very little activity and was terminated shortly. Intended to be a defensive force to protect the Kingdom, the King and the People of Ruthenia, it was disbanded on 08 March 2015 by the Royal Decree 019/2015.

Second Creation[edit | edit source]

Following the signature of the Karno-Ruthenian Compromise of 2016, an air force was required by the Karnian signatories and having this term being accepted by the Ruthenians, the armed forces were readapted and entire hierarchy, nomenclature and training program were reconsidered. They use the Austro-Hungarian model to make patents and the army hierarchy, including the air force, now called as "Aviation Troops". With the formation of a better organized General Staff of the Armed Forces, there was also a profound change in the attitude of the military, who have adopted a more interventionist attitude towards the military policies of the Empire. The best example of this is intervention in the Lundener Civil War.

Reforms[edit | edit source]

On 07 January 2022, the Armed Forces were reformed after the approval of the law presented by the Comittee for the Armed Forces during the III Legislature, and much of the Aviation Troops was modernized following the Occidian and Delveran military systems, that revoked many ranks and changed its name.

Through the General Order n. 22[1], issued on 17 November 2023, the Karno-Ruthenian Aviation Troops was dissolved as an independent branch of the Karno-Ruthenian Armed Forces, but splited in Army Air Corps and Naval Air Corps within the Karno-Ruthenian Army and Karno-Ruthenian Navy, to conduct air operations in support of Army and Navy units, under the command of Army and Navy officers. This way, each field army and fleet in Imperial service incorporated an air squadron as a standard component of those elements. This same reform defined that the positions of Army Air Commandant and Naval Air Commandant were established as seats on the General Staff and the holders of these offices were in charged of overseeing and maintaining the air assets in their respective branches.

Rank and structure[edit | edit source]

Created with 10 ranks, after the Reform of 2022, the structure was reduced to the current form. During the reforms of 2024, the Truppen was splited into the Army and Naval services, but was allowed to maintain distinctive uniforms and insignia to distinguish them from other branches within the Armed Forces.
