The Karno-Ruthenian Fencing Federation is the national organization for fencing in Karnia-Ruthenia and the first micronational organization for this sport in the world. It was founded in 2017 and its headquarters is in Persenburg. The chairman of the Karno-Ruthenian Fencing Federation is its founder, the Emperor-King Oscar. The matches take place on a virtual basis using the Android mobile game engine, FIE Swordplay.

First gathering of the KRFF.

On 28 October 2023, during a medieval festival held in São Paulo, Brazil, Emperor Oscar I, accompanied by Prince Wilhelm Hochbach and Count Peter Szentmária, participated in a workshop on Olympic fencing and were able to engage in combat in what is, informally, the first fencing tournament in the history of the Empire. Oscar I, who was also the President of the Karno-Ruthenian Fencing Federation, won the three combats in which he participated; Prince Hochbach won two combats and Count Szentmária did not obtain victory.[1]

On the following day, Prince Wilhelm Hochbach became the chairman of the federation, while Count Peter Szentmária became its vice-president. By December, Oscar I started attending a fencing academy in São Paulo, Brazil to practice the sport effectively, becoming a sabreur.

Summary[edit | edit source]

There are three forms of Olympic fencing:

  • Foil — a light thrusting weapon; the valid target is restricted to the torso; double touches are not allowed.
  • Épée — a heavy thrusting weapon; the valid target area covers the entire body; double touches are allowed.
  • Sabre — a light cutting and thrusting weapon; the valid target area includes almost everything above the waist (excluding the back of the head and the hands); double touches are not allowed.

Until the moment, the only form played personally between the fencers of the federation was the sabre.
