Lucas VIII, Stadhouder of Mauritia, born Lucas Frederico Guilherme Maria of Woestein, is one of the founders of the United Provinces of Mauritia is the elected and ever august Stadhouder of the United Provinces, being the eighth of his name and the 51th Stadhouder of Mauritia in the Historical Saga[1].

Micronational life and personality[edit | edit source]

Born in 1991, he has been a micronationalist since 2003, raised in the Holy Empire of Réunion. Today he is an experienced politician, dynamic, but endowed with an extremely acidic humor – and, curiously, for this reason, revered by Mauritaanse citizens.

He is, admittedly, one of the greatest active micronationalists, often arbiting disputes between countries and a recognized champion of peace among the peoples of micronationalism. He is also known for his taste and his works in heraldic art, which he has developed in partnership with the Mauritiaanse Wappenrol, the national body of Mauritia responsible for advancing the studies of fundamental historical fields within micronationalism, such as heraldry, vexillology, genealogy and history[2].

Other interests[edit | edit source]

He is a religious and Catholic priest, having joined the Order of Friars Minor. Currently, within the Church, he serves as Cardinal-Patriarch of Izabella, in addition to being President of the Micronational Episcopal Conference, an ecclesiastical body that takes care of administration, justice and liturgy within the Church. He is the first Stadhouder of Mauritia as a micronation, when the role was held for a three-month term, having abdicated after the election of the second government. He returned to the Stadhouderschap in 2015, where he reigns gloriously, with the support of all the Mauritaanse people.

As Stadhouder[edit | edit source]

Among his habits is meeting, every two days, when he is not on a personal trip, with the Chancellor of the United Provinces, head of government elected by the Senate, who governs in his name. It is common to see them walking together, on Tuesdays and Thursdays, through the gardens of Château de Brennand, where Stadhouder resides, while discussing budget spreadsheets and plans for Mauritia's education. Sometimes – it is not uncommon – it is also possible to find him in cafes or squares talking to citizens, from the Minister of Foreign Affairs to even ordinary people, who stop to greet him or to make important requests.
