The Memorandum of Paradiestal (Portuguese: Memorando de Paradiestal) is a treaty signed between Karnia-Ruthenia, Taslavia, Hanseatic and Confederate States of Achsen and the Sultanate of Harram in order to align common objectives on foreign policies.

Background[edit | edit source]

The Karno-Ruthenian Empire was successfull in enthrone a trustful ally in Taslavia, and also achieved to develop one of the most interesting projects in Brazil at the time, the Hanseatic and Confederate States of Achsen. However, among them, few contact were verified. One another hand, Ebenthal exercised much influence over the Sultanate of Harram and considerable influence in Achsen, but the Ebenthali government also noticed the lack of integration.

When Karno-Ruthenian and Ebenthali governments achieved to depose the House of Harram and enthroned Hassam III, a former Prince of Ebenthal, a parallel between this and the establishment of the Taslavian Throne with a Karno-Ruthenian archduke was now clear and both governments, regional leaders with similar politics, decided to work closer and align their long-term policies.

Negotiations[edit | edit source]

Ebenthali diplomats contacted the Emperor of Karnia-Ruthenia during the visit of the King of Taslavia to Persenburg to introduce the idea. Convinced of the opportunity, Oscar I and Guilherme I discussed the matter and the King of Taslavia agreed. Few days after his departure, the memorandum was signed.

On Ebenthali part, Arthur II of Ebenthal prepared his cousin to sign the document not just as a first step into foreign policy of the new regime they were establishing in Harram, but also a move to bring them to the Conference of Santiago and project the recognition of the new sultan abroad. Without any resistence, Harram would be represented at the memorandum.

The Prince-Regent of Achsen, Archchancellor Lucas, one of the minds behind the idea, just waited the confirmation of the success of the negotiations at Persenburg and the Old-City of Harram to sign the document.

Terms[edit | edit source]

All the signatoires ratified the Treaty of Persenburg, the Protocol of Goetha, the Convention of Mauritsstad and the Treaty of Santiago, was well as the Convention of Fruchemburg and the Protocol of Klöw. Achsen, Taslavia and Harram would become part of the Derivatist Program of the Conference of Santiago, while Harram would adopt the Conferential Doubloon as official currency of the sultanate and both Harram and Achsen would appoint Kanuweg and Harram as sister-cities. All of them renounced the right to intervene in the internal and external affairs of the others.
