The Karno-Ruthenian Sixth Army is a Karno-Ruthenian permanent field army that was established in 18 May 2016 at Victoria, Letzembourg during the reforms caused by the union of the Grand Duchy of Letzembourg and the creation of the Karno-Ruthenian Empire and later disbanded due the Treaty of Leige. The formation was reestablished as a new military district in Clarksbourg the following year. The task of the Army since its reactivation has been to defend the State of Delvera.
History[edit | edit source]
The history of the Sixth Army began with the foundation of the Armed Forces of Karnia-Ruthenia. The Imperial and Royal Army was founded on the 26 November 2014 as the Royal Army of Ruthenia. The Army was originally intended to serve as a defensive force to protect the national borders and territories owned by the Kingdom of Ruthenia.
After the signing of the Karno-Ruthenian Compromise of 2016 and the foundation of the Karno-Ruthenian Empire, the national military of the Grand Duchy of Letzembourg was officially disestablished. The VI Army and its inspectorate was created in June 2016 to serve as a defensive force of the imperial territories in North America in the event of conflict. It participated in the Lundener Civil War.
In early August 2021, Carpathia and Letzembourg demanded independence of Karnia-Ruthenia, which was achieved with the signing of the Treaty of Leige on 05 August 2021 and its ratification six days later. One of the conditions was the disbanding of the unit and the inspectorate.
The following year, the unit was reformed as a new military district under Delveran command located in Clarksbourg, becoming one of the most active units of the Armed Forces. The Sixth was the first to present a new style for troop colors that later was adopted by the rest of the districts.
Traditions[edit | edit source]
The Sixth Army in its current form traces its history and traditions to the Delveran Armed Services, specifically the Grand Republican Army, the foundations of which were laid in 2011. Several of the Army's units carry on that legacy, such as the 3rd and 9th Infantry Regiments, whose names and unit symbols are direct callbacks to the Republican era of Delvera. The current uniform of the Karno-Ruthenian Army is a variation of the Confederal Guard uniform developed in 2019, and the Army's colour is also derived from that of the Guard. The first five streamers authorized for display on the colour commemorate historic Delveran campaigns.
The Commanding Officer of the army is granted the honorary title of Supreme Commander, which was the leader of the DAS appointed by the Delveran consuls. The holder of this title wears a distinctive black and red kepi with gold braid.
